- STARS
The statewide Ohio Board of Regents STARS Program initiative was instituted at Sinclair Community College during the 1992-93 academic year. The acronym STARS stands for "Student Achievement in Research and Scholarship," a title that captures the program's emphasis on academic excellence. The mission of STARS is to increase the representation of minority groups in Ohio's college faculties. STARS is Ohio's way of "growing its own" minority faculty members by identifying the best undergraduate students and grooming them for graduate school and ultimately for academic careers.
