Coach Dillon highly emphasizes academics. During his tenure, his women’s basketball teams have carried a 3.0 grade point average respectively. Every year several members of the squad consistently find themselves on the Dean’s List, as well as the Academic All-Conference team. The expectation of student-athletes ability to handle both the responsibility of academics and participation in athletics remains high and is top priority.
Sinclair women’s program has also been involved in several community outreach projects during Coach Dillon’s tenure. Several teams have been helped out at the Artemis House, a center for victims of domestic violence; the Habitat for Humanity houses, applying roofing to houses as well as conducting a tool drive; the Ronald McDonald House, collecting tab tops, weekend cleaning and restocking supplies; as well as the Dayton Humane Society and Foodbank. Events the Lady Tartan Pride have participated in over the years include the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, the Ghost and Goblin run which benefited the Children’s Medical Center of Dayton and the MDA Telethon. The Lady Tartan Pride also participate in a Kay Yow/WBCA Pink Zone game annually to raise money for the Cancer Fund.
Last season the Tartan Pride achieved a 19-10 overall record. Several players made their way on conference teams: Chelcie Gullett was selected to 1st team, and Emily Frey and Jana Gross received Honorable Mention.
One of the best seasons during Coach Dillon’s tenure thus far has been the 2007-2008 season. This Sinclair women's basketball team finished the year with a 22-4 overall mark, 12-2 conference record and put an OCCAC Championship banner on the wall! The Tartan Pride had several players receive All-Conference honors that year: Danielle Roe made 1st team All OCCAC, Liz Shank made 2nd team All OCCAC, and Autumn Heflin received Honorable Mention. Heflin, also surpassed school records in both Field Goal percentage, as well as Free Throw percentage. The team finished ranked in the nation in several categories, including 10th in 3pt Field Goal percentage, 17th in Offensive Scoring, and 25th in Team Free Throw percentage.
The 2006-2007 squad ended their season with a 19-8 record and set a new school record in Team Defensive average.
In Coach Dillon’s 1st season back in 2003, he led the team to a 16-12 record. The following year (2004-2005) the team ended with a 19-12 record and as runner-ups in the NJCAA Region XII Tournament. The 2004-2005 squad also set school records in 3pt Field Goals in a single game and Team Defensive Average for the season.
Aside from being involved with basketball on the floor, Coach Dillon has also had several articles published in leading basketball publications. Most recently he collaborated with Dr. Peter Titlebaum for Sport Management at the University of Dayton about recruiting procedures and policies at the Collegiate level.
Dillon attended Sinclair from 1981-1983 and continued his education at Wright State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Health & Physical Education in 1987. He also earned his Master’s degree in Education from Wright State in 1992.
