Shawn McCullough, 29, enters his third season with Coach Price as Sinclair's Top Men's Assistant Basketball Coach. In a move that much improved the program, Coach Price promoted Coach McCullough to the Top spot after just one year on staff. Along with Coach Price, Coach McCullough is determined to help lead Sinclair towards success in the classroom and on the basketball court.
New to the collegiate coaching fraternity, Coach McCullough has demonstrated his knowledge of the game, determination, work ethic and desire to become one of the top young basketball coaches. Earning the top assistant spot after just one year. Coach Price has said: "It is only a matter of time before Coach McCullough breaks into the land of Big-Time NCAA Division I college basketball. He has all the tools to take that next step in his coaching career; a great basketball mind, unstoppable determination and the temperament to deal with and understand today's athletes."
In the spring of 1994, McCullough finished an outstanding Meadowdale High School career as one of the top dual sport recruits (Basketball/Football) in the nation. During that recruiting process, McCullough first met Coach Price during his tenure at Davis & Elkins College a small private NCAA-II college in the mountains of West Virginia. Although McCullough had been recruited by Major Division I colleges in both sports, Price continued to recruit McCullough developing a relationship that would one day bring the two together on the basketball floor.
McCullough decided to play basketball at The Ohio State University for then Head Coach Randy Ayers, where he red-shirted his freshman year (1994-95) After a year with the Ohio State program, McCullough returned home for a short stint and played under then Sinclair Head Coach Don Cundiff. McCullough earned all conference honors and once again became a top recruit on the Junior College level and chose to attend NCAA Division I School, San Jose State University (Western Athletic Conference) where he was a starting guard his entire career.
In addition to his top assistant coaching duties, McCullough has been employed for the last six years as a Logistics Specialist for a multi-million dollar company, Victory Wholesale Grocers in Springboro, Ohio.
McCullough has a twin brother who played in the NFL for 4 years and is currently a member of Arena Football League Champions, Colorado Crush owned by John Elway. One of his best friends and high school teammates Peerless Price is currently with the Dallas Cowboys.
A native of Dayton, Ohio, McCullough graduated from Meadowdale High School. He went on to earn a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Jose State University, and an Associate of Arts degree from Sinclair Community College.
