Scholarships and the Sinclair levy are the two most important ways that Sinclair keeps education accessible to a large number of area residents. Donors may stipulate criteria for selecting recipients with such determinants as academic excellence.

Establishing a Scholarship Fund

Endowed Scholarships - A minimum contribution of $10,000 will establish a permanent fund that may be named by the donor. Endowed funds participate in the Sinclair Foundation's investment program. The principal is invested and only a portion of the earnings is made available each year for scholarship awards. Note: Endowment minimums may be accomplished over a period of up to three years.

Restricted Scholarships - Gifts of less than $10,000 may be directed to existing scholarship funds, or may be restricted for a specific degree program or major on a one-time or annual basis. All of these monies are earmarked for spending on the specified purpose. The fund is not permanent nor does it participate in the foundation investment program. Criteria for scholarships may relate to enrollment in a specific degree program, leadership, and community service. Sinclair Community College is responsible for the selection of scholarship recipients within the criteria stipulated by the donor.

Scholarship & Project Funding

The Sinclair Foundation annually allocates a portion of its unrestricted funds to support a variety of scholarships and campus programs. In addition, Sinclair faculty and staff may apply each year for a limited number of Innovative Projects grants to benefit students, improve administrative processes, or beautify the campus.  Click here for a list of Scholarships & Projects funded for 2007-2008.

Each year donor-directed gifts also provide funding for a wide range of scholarships and college programs.
