All international students are strongly encouraged to carry adequate health insurance. It is your responsibility to adequately protect your health and that of your family, if any, during your entire stay in the United States. The U.S. government may require health and repatriation insurance of all F1 and F2 status holders in the very near future. When that regulation becomes law, you will be required to purchase a specific health insurance policy through Sinclair Community College. At that time, failure to do so will result in your termination from future enrollment at Sinclair until such time as that required policy is purchased.
The College does not sponsor an international student insurance policy, but will provide you with information about different policies available. The average 12-month year cost for the student only is $504-$702, depending on your age. Your policy should cover most emergency medical expenses as well as repatriation and medical evacuation expenses (minimum of $10,000 repatriation and medical evaluation). A dental plan is available for an additional cost of $50 a year.
The College does not have on-campus medical care. Students must contact local physicians, hospitals, and dentists. The cost of dental work, eyeglasses, and other medical care is very expensive in the United States.
