Engineering Science University Parallel Program

Are you seeking a bachelor's degree in engineering? With Sinclair's Engineering Science University Parallel (ESUP) program, you can earn the credits you need to transfer into a four-year engineering program as a junior.

What is the ESUP program?

The ESUP program is for students who plan to transfer credits to a baccalaureate program in engineering after completing course work at Sinclair.

Students who complete the Engineering Science University Parallel program will earn an Associate of Science in Engineering Science degree. Courses completed in the ESUP degree program will meet the requirements for foundation courses in engineering baccalaureate programs at many colleges and universities.

What courses are featured in the ESUP program?

This intensive program builds on mathematics and science skills acquired before college. The ESUP program provides training in college mathematics, physics, chemistry, and engineering mechanics, as well as an introduction to engineering drawing. A full complement of communications skills courses, equivalent to those offered in a university, are also featured. Electives round out the two-year program. The academic counselors within the Engineering & Industrial Technologies division will assist students with the selection of electives which best satisfy their unique objectives.

What transfer agreements are available for ESUP students?

All colleges and universities have certain requirements that must be met in order for students to transfer into a four-year program. To make the transfer process easier for students in the Engineering & Industrial Technologies Division, Sinclair has established ESUP articulation (transfer) agreements with some four-year institutions. This means that all ESUP graduates who meet course and grade point average requirements will be granted junior status in selected engineering programs at these universities.

Ohio Northern University Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
Wright State University (WSU will accept credits from the ESUP program only) Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics

Regardless of the transfer school you choose, the academic counselors in the E&IT Division are availabe to help you plan your educational program based on the requirements of the transfer school.

Note: The student who wishes to earn an associate degree in Engineering Science must complete the last thirty hours at Sinclair to meet residency requirements. Exceptions to this requirement must be approved in advance in writing by the dean of Engineering & Industrial Technologies.

Program Outcomes

Entry-level graduates with an Associate of Science in Engineering Science degree from Sinclair Community College will be able to:

  • Develop skills in calculus and analytical geometry and differential equations.
  • Identify the basic laws of physics and chemistry including mechanical, electrical, heat, light, sound, and inorganic chemistry.
  • Demonstrate written and oral communication skills including drafting.
  • Apply the laws of mechanics.
  • Apply techniques used in depicting intersections and locating points and target points on geometric solids and surfaces.
  • Develop an understanding of the engineering profession and related fields.
