Articulation (Transfer) Agreement

The Engineering and Industrial Technologies division has signed articulation (transfer) agreements with certain four-year institutions to transfer Sinclair credits directly into corresponding, accredited engineering programs.

What is an articulation agreement?

An articulation (transfer) agreement is a documented agreement between Sinclair and another university outlining courses that will transfer and apply towards the freshman and sophomore requirements in that university's baccalaureate degree.

Articulation agreements can also refer to agreements with high schools or vocational schools where college credit may be given for the completion of selected work. Other articulation agreements exist with two year colleges, companies, or agencies. These credits may only apply to specific degree programs.

If you are transferring credits to a four-year program, the four-year program to which you transfer your credits must match your program at Sinclair.

Some four-year institutions have certain course and grade point average requirements that must be met in order for credits to transfer. Remember that the transfer school makes the final determination of which courses will be accepted at that school. Therefore, transferability of all courses should be determined before you begin taking classes at Sinclair.

Listed below are the Engineering & Industrial Technologies programs covered by articulation agreements.  Please see a division counselor, Room 3142, for details.

One-Plus-One
Selected programs at Edison Community College and Lima Technical College are structured in a one-plus-one format so that students can earn an Associate of Applied Science degree from Sinclair.

The following example illustrates this format:

1 year at Edison plus 1 year at Sinclair = 2 year associate degree from Sinclair Community College.

Associate of Technical Study (ATS) Articulation
Courses from the following training programs may be incorporated into selected Engineering & Industrial Technologies programs, or they may be accepted as part of an Associate of Technical Study degree at Sinclair.

  • Dayton Area International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #82 (E&CET/EER/EME)
  • State of Ohio, Bureau of Apprenticeship Training, Journeymen Machinist and/or Tool and Die Makers
