The Center for Energy Education laboratory was designed and built by Sinclair students as an internship project. The design took place in the spring of 2007 and the laboratory was constructed during the summer of 2007. The laboratory was designed to support classroom energy/environmental education, laboratory experiences, and community awareness and education.
The Energy Lab has a special area designated as K–12. There are numerous activities of interest to them. There have been numerous tours given of the Energy Lab.
The Energy Lab has a wide range of projects, displays and information modules ranging from energy efficiency, solar thermal, solar PV, biodiesel, ethanol, wind and hydrogen.
The Energy Lab will soon receive their solar thermal equipment, solar PV equipment and a 1KW wind turbine. The solar PV and the wind turbine will be used to power the Energy Education Laboratory with renewable energy.
Architectural Internship
As an internship project, the Architectural Technology students are designing and beginning to build and assemble the Energy Lab. One of their first assemblies will be a hydrogen generator.
