PAX-RN
When is the PAX-RN examination given?
The PAX-RN is administered at the end of Spring, Summer and Fall quarters.
How do I register to take the PAX-RN?
Once requirements are complete, please contact the Life and Health Sciences Advisors’ Office in Room 11346 or call (937) 512-3700. The advisor will check your records for eligibility and give you the steps on registering for the exam. Students must register in the Life and Health Sciences Advisor’s office.
Is there a charge to take the PAX-RN?
The cost is $45.00. Payment is made to the Bursar’s Office. The Bursar accepts cash, personal checks, credit cards or money orders. BRING YOUR PINK PAID RECEIPT TO THE TEST WITH PHOTO I.D. (i.e., DRIVER LICENSE, STUDENT I.D.)
What is the best way to prepare for the PAX-RN?
The SCC Bookstore carries a commercial guide for PAX-RN examination preparation. Other area bookstores may be contacted as well.
Are there any courses that will help with preparation for the PAX-RN?
The following courses are recommended for preparation: CHE 120 Intro to Chemistry, DEV 101 Fund of Composition, ENG 111 English Composition I,
ENG 116 Advanced Vocabulary, and EXL 102 Spelling and Vocabulary.
When and how will I get the results of the PAX-RN?
Results will be mailed directly to you approximately four weeks following the administration of the examination.
How will I know if I passed the PAX-RN?
In order to be eligible for the nursing program, students must successfully pass three areas, verbal, math, and science, at the 50th percentile. In the “ALL” column, the scores must be at the 50th percentile or higher.
If I did not successfully pass a section of the PAX-RN with a score at the 50th percentile or above, what are my options?
Students who do not pass a section of the test have two options: (1) retake the part(s) of the exam not passed, or (2) complete the following course(s) to remediate for scores below the 50th percentile: Verbal - HIM 121 (Medical Terminology); Math - MAT 106 (Life and Health Sciences Math); Science -BIO 107 (Human Biology).
Courses must be passed with no less than a “C” grade.
