To be eligible for admission to the Nursing Program, an individual must:
1. Submit completed Sinclair Community College application for admission to the
Office of Registrar and Student Records, Room 10-231. You will receive
notification concerning your acceptance to the college.
2. Submit completed Life and Health Sciences Program Application, indicating Nursing
as an interest, to the Life anad Health Sciences Advisors’ Office in Room 11346.
3. Request all colleges, and schools of nursing which you have attended to send
an official copy of your transcript(s) to the Office of Registrar and Student
Records.
4. Have completed high school chemistry or its equivalent with a grade of "C" or
better within five years. (Submit a copy of high school transcript to the Life and
Health Sciences Advisors’ Office in Room 11346) Or, complete CHE 120/126 at
Sinclair with a grade of "C" or better.
5. Have completed State Tested Nurse Aide Training.
· STNA training may be completed at any state approved program.
· Sinclair offers this training as ALH 120 (6 Credit Hours).
6. Take the Writing, Reading and Mathematics Skills Placement Tests. The tests
are given by Sinclair at no charge. No appointments are necessary. The
placement Testing Center is located in Room 10-445. If you have previous
college credits, contact an LHS Advisor to determine which tests are
necessary.
7. After taking the Placement Tests, make an appointment with an Life and Health
Sciences Advisor to review your Placement Test scores, review the requirements,
and plan your course of study. The advisors may be reached at 512-3700,
room 11-346.
8. Complete the Nursing Pre-Admission Examination (PAX-RN) and receive an
acceptable score.
9. Have a 2.0 cumulative GPA at Sinclair Community College.
Exception for Transfer Students:
The Nursing Pre-Admission Examination (PAX-RN) requirement is waived
for transfer students who have successfully completed one or more clinical
nursing courses.
10. Students will have a maximum of three opportunities to successfully complete
each BIO, ALH, and MAT course required by the program.
· The student may withdraw or fail, but must successfully complete the course
on the third attempt.
· The student is no longer eligible to enter the program after a third
unsuccessful attempt.
Applicants who meet all admission criteria will be selected on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Applicants are accepted based on the date of eligibility (the date all requirements are met), not the date on the application.
