1. Students who transfer from other nursing programs must meet the
following entrance criteria:
a. Complete the Sinclair Application for Admission.
b. Complete an application to the Nursing Program.
c. Submit a copy of transcripts from any colleges attended.
d. Have taken high school or college chemistry and earned a grade of "C" or
better within the previous five years, or show equivalency.
e. Complete the Sinclair Placement Testing and have taken any developmental
courses required from that testing.
f. Either complete the Nursing Pre-admission (PAX-RN) Test and receive an
acceptable score, or demonstrate successful completion of one or more
nursing courses.
2. Non-nursing transfer courses will be evaluated by an LHS advisor.
3. Nursing courses will be evaluated by the Nursing Department Chairperson
or designee based on credit hours, course content, clinical hours, date
taken, and any other pertinent data.
4. Students who transfer from other programs without three hours of math
credit which includes nursing dosage calculations, must take MATH 109
and achieve a "C" or better, or take a MATH 109 proficiency exam and
score 80% or higher. This must be completed prior to enrolling in any
clinical nursing course.
5. Students who have failed courses in other nursing programs must meet the
criteria for reinstatement contained in the Reinstatement Procedure of this
Statement of Policy. If a student has failed the same course twice in another
nursing program or has been denied reinstatement into another nursing
program, the student will not be eligible for transfer in the Sinclair Nursing Program.
6. Students who transfer from another nursing program will be required to complete a
transfer module one quarter prior to entering the Sinclair Nursing Program. The
purpose of this module is to provide a foundation for potential success at Sinclair.
The module will help assimilate the student into the culture of Sinclair's program by
orienting the student to the program's concepts, procedures, resources, and
requirements.
