To be eligible for admission to the Nursing Program, an individual must:
1. Follow the directions to register for Sinclair Community College. These can be
found at http://www.sinclair.edu/services/registration/registrationinstructions/
2. Complete an online application for admission to the Nursing Program through
the Life and Health Sciences Division. The application can be found at
http://www.sinclair.edu/academics/lhs/apply/.
3. Request all colleges, and schools of nursing which you have attended to send
an official copy of your transcript(s) to the Office of Registrar and Student
Records. An official copy must be mailed, not hand carried or faxed.
4. Take the Writing, Reading and Mathematics Skills Placement Tests. The tests
are given by Sinclair at no charge. No appointments are necessary. The
placement Testing Center is located in Room 10-445. If you have previous
college credits, contact an LHS Advisor to determine which tests are
necessary.
5. After taking the Placement Tests, make an appointment with the Life and Health
Sciences Advisor in Room 11346 to review your Placement Test scores, review
the requirements, and plan your course of study. The advisors may be reached
at 512-3700.
6. Complete chemistry with a grade of "C" or better within the previous five years.
*CHE 120/126 from Sinclair or transfer equivalent.
*High School chemistry. If planning to use high school chemistry, obtain a
copy of your high school transcript and hand carry it to the Life and Health
Sciences Academic Advisor, Room 11346.
7. Complete the Nursing Pre-Admission Examination (PAX-RN) and receive an
acceptable score.
Exception for Transfer Students:
The Nursing Pre-Admission Examination (PAX-RN) requirement is waived
for transfer students who have successfully completed one or more clinical
nursing courses at another school.
8. Complete State Tested Nurse Aide Training.
· Any state approved STNA program, with copy of letter or card.
· ALH 120 (6 Credit Hours) at Sinclair
9. Have a 2.0 cumulative GPA at Sinclair Community College.
10. Students will have a maximum of three opportunities to successfully
complete each BIO, ALH, and MAT course required by the program.
· The student may withdraw or fail, but must successfully complete the course
on the third attempt.
· The student is no longer eligible to enter the program after a third
unsuccessful attempt.
Applicants who meet all admission criteria will be selected on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Applicants are accepted based on the date of eligibility (the date all requirements are met), not the date on the application. Students must comply with all program policies and meet program requirements current at the time they begin nursing coures. If they do not, they must correct the deficiencies, and a new eligibility date will be assigned upon notification to the Nursing Department that the requirements have been met.
