An elective feature of the nursing program occurs during the sixth quarter when portfolio classes are added. Students select a total of 3 credit hours in topics of particular interest to them or that support the career path they desire. The portfolio courses are intended to enrich student learning by taking course content to higher levels of complexity. Portfolio courses can be taken after the student has completed NSG 220. Some classes have additional prerequisites. Eight to fourteen classes are offered each quarter. Credit hours vary from 0.5 to 3.0 credit hours depending on the specific course.
The following is a list of approved portfolio courses. Students are advised to check the current bulletin for class listings each quarter. Some classes are offered in one day sessions from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Students are expected to arrive on time and stay for the entire day. There is a homework assignment that is due within two weeks after the class. Students can register for these classes up to the day before the scheduled date. If unable to attend, students are advised to withdraw from the class as soon as possible. Failure to do so will result in a grade of "Z".
