Mental Health Technology (MHT)

The MHT program prepares entry level workers for employment in the human service and behavioral healthcare field. Duties may include client interviewing, crisis intervention and advocacy, activity and recreation therapy, group leadership, case management, family support, chemical dependency treatment, and mental health counseling.

Since 1967, we've trained over 1500 qualified human service professionals now working in the fields of mental health, chemical dependency treatment, gerontology, corrections, and developmental disabilities.

For the past several years, the MHT program has been the premier provider of Continuing Education courses for chemical dependency professionals in the region.

Graduates of this program work directly with a diverse group of clients in a wide variety of human service agencies. The course of study can be completed on a full-time basis (7 quarters) or part-time with day and evening options available. The practicum portion of the curriculum provides over 500 hours of supervised clinical experience in human service agencies.

Graduates are eligible for registration by the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board as Social Work Assistants (SWA). Students in the MHT/CD degree program meet the academic and experience requirements for licensure as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) with the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.  The program is approved by the Council for Standards in Human Service Education.

After taking MHT 101, an informational interview and a G.P.A. of 2.0 are required for admission to the program.
