The MHT program prepares entry level workers for employment working on a human service team with supervision. Duties may include client interviewing, crisis intervention and advocacy, activity therapy, group leadership, case management, family support, drug and alcohol treatment, and mental health counseling.
Since 1967, we've trained over 1300 qualified mental health professionals now working in the fields of mental health and human services, chemical dependency treatment, gerontology, corrections, and mental retardation.
For the past several years, the MHT program has been the premier provider of Continuing Education courses for chemical dependency professionals in the region.
Graduates of this program work directly with a diverse group of clients in a wide variety of human service agencies. The course of study can be completed on a full-time basis (7 quarters) or part-time with day and evening options available. The practicum portion of the curriculum provides over 500 hours of supervised clinical experience in human service agencies.
Graduates are eligible for registration by the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board as Social Work Assistants (SWA). Graduates of our chemical dependency option meet the academic requirements for licensure as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) with the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board. The program is approved by the Council for Standards in Human Service Education.
An informational interview and a G.P.A. of 2.0 are required for admission to the program.
