Certified Dental Assisting
This program is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills to become a competent and professional entry level dental assistant. The class includes CPR and radiography pre-certification training. Completion of the program will grant the student eligibility to take the Certified Ohio Dental Assisting exam and the Ohio State Radiographers certification exam
Coronal Polishing
This 7 CEU hour continuing education course will prepare the Certified Dental Assistant for coronal polishing techniques on the clinical crowns of the teeth. There are specific indications and contraindications for doing a coronal polish. A CDA who successfully completes the course may obtain coronal polishing certification in the state of Ohio.
Dental Anatomy for Dental Auxiliaries
This course is a study of the form and function of the human dentition as it relates to dental auxiliaries for expanded functions. This course is a five week course that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Summer "B" term schedule from 6:30pm-8:30pm. It is a prerequisite for entry into the Expanded Functions (EFDA) program
Dental Radiology
This course will prepare dental assistants for a Dental Radiography Cerificate as mandated by the OSDB. This course is designed for those who do not have a current Ohio Dental Radiographer's Certification or License.
Dental Sealants
This 8 CEU continuing education course will prepare the certified dental assistant in the proper placement of dental sealants. This course focuses on two didactic hours including dental anatomy, infection control, legalities, and placement technique. Six clinical hours concentrates on demonstration, practice and clinical competency.
Radiology Updates for Renewal of Certification
This course is designed for those who need to RENEW their current Ohio Dental Radiographer's Certification
Expanded Functions for Dental Auxiliaries
The EFDA course is a consecutive 3-part series totaling 18 college credit hours (200 contact hours) of intensive training in placing of amalgam and tooth colored restorations. Completion of this 3-part series entitles the Registered Dental Hygienist or Certified Dental Assistant to take the Commission on Dental Testing in Ohio designated examination for the Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary. Successful completion of this examination awards the certificate "Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary" (EFDA).
Local Anesthesia for Dental Hygienist
This course provides the dental hygienist with essential skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively administer local anesthesia. It consists of lecture, demonstration and clinical experiences. Completion of this course prepares the dental hygienist to take the NERB examination required for dental hygiene local anesthesia credentialing in Ohio. This course meets the OSDB standards for administration of local anesthesia by dental hygienists in Ohio.
Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office
An Ohio State Dental Board approved 4-hour lecture/presentation/discussion course on the prevention, recognition and treatment of medical emergencies.
