Department Information
The Music department offers associate degrees in Music Education and Music Performance. Sinclair students study a university parallel program for easy transfer to other institutions upon completion of their degrees. Sinclair’s Music department is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
 
To accommodate the varied musical needs of the Sinclair student body and the community, the Music department offers a large variety of music courses. In addition to the associate degree curriculum of music major level course offerings, general courses in music appreciation, music fundamentals and history of rock music are available. Group instruction is offered in piano, voice and guitar. Applied music lessons are offered in popular and classical guitar styles, various jazz instruments, voice, piano, organ and all orchestral instruments. All applied music teachers are specialists on the instruments they teach.
Sinclair's facilities include the 461-seat Blair Hall Theatre, equipped with 96 hand-built acoustical clouds that insure the best possible sound distribution. The music facility also includes a 22-station music technology computer laboratory, a 20-station piano laboratory, lecture classrooms, large and small ensemble rehearsal rooms, applied music studios, offices and individual practice rooms.
Sinclair has many excellent performing groups whose members include Sinclair students and community musicians. The Music department regularly sponsors workshops, master classes and performances by renowned guest artists. The Chorale, Chamber Choir, Men's Ensemble, Women's Ensemble and Sinclair Singers meet during the day and the Sinclair LIFE (Gospel) Choir, Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Youth Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Classical Guitar Ensemble and Handbell Choir meet during the evening.
