LIBERAL ARTS, COMMUNICATION & SOCIAL SCIENCES

Texts and Critical Reviews

Complete texts of various writings by and about Paul Laurence Dunbar. These illustrate the variety of his work and his awareness of the cultural and historical forces through which he was living, working, and writing. "Recession Never" was his response to racial violence against African Americans at the beginning of the 20th century. The critical review by William Dean Howells helped to introduce Dunbar's work to a wider audience.

Other online texts of Paul Laurence Dunbar are available at a site maintained by the Wright State University Library. (http://www.libraries.wright.edu/dunbar)

Links to many other resources on Dunbar can be found at the "Ohio Reading Road Trip" web site. (An excellent reference and research tool for all Ohio authors.) (http://www.ohioreadingroadtrip.org/dunbar)
