Important Information

Important Information for Parents/Guardians and Students Participating in CCP
  • College Credit Plus 2016-2017 Handbook
  • Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), parents have certain rights with respect to their children’s educational records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches 18 years or older OR when they attend a school beyond the high school level. A person participating in the College Credit Plus is considered as any other college student. Access to the student’s Sinclair records by parents or guardians is only permitted when a written release of information is signed by the student.
  • College classes are intended for college students. While all students in the College Credit Plus course will be fellow high school peers, the course content has been aligned with that of Sinclair’s other course sections. The expectations of student work and the course content are geared toward traditional college students. While we believe many high-achieving and emotionally mature high school students are capable of successfully handling the rigors and content of these classes, they are not appropriate for everyone. The College Credit Plus course and the grade earned will become a permanent part of the student’s college record.
  • All students admitted to Sinclair Community College agree to adhere to the rules, regulations and policies set forth in the Student Code of Conduct. Students are entitled to the same fundamental rights, privileges and immunities that are guaranteed to all citizens of the United States. In addition to their inherent rights and privileges as Sinclair students, students voluntarily assume the obligation to fulfill the responsibilities and obligations identified in our publications. The college has the right to develop policies, procedures and standards that will ensure protection of the rights of each member of the college community.
  • Sinclair Community College is committed to providing an environment conducive to high-quality education and student success. Students are expected to:
    • Read and comply with the college catalog, Student Handbook, and any other published regulations relating to student responsibilities (available online at www.sinclair.edu)
    • Be respectful of the rights of others
    • Comply with the directions of college officials
    • Respect and comply with all laws and rights of good citizenship
    • Respect the freedom to teach and the freedom to learn
  • Sinclair maintains a safe educational environment for all students. However, no additional safety measures are provided for minor age students. College Credit Plus students, while not taking classes on Sinclair’s campus, will nevertheless have the same access to campus facilities and equipment as any other student.
  • The CCP Program is a wonderful opportunity for middle school and high school students who are Ohio residents and who are eligible for in-state tuition rates to earn college credit at no cost to them or their families. Residency questions may be emailed to ccplus@sinclair.edu or contact the CCP Office at 937-512-2335.
  • The Sinclair CCP Office will communicate with you throughout the admissions process to let you know your next steps. This will be done through email, using the personal email address you used to complete the admissions application. It is very important that you check your email on a regular basis.
  • Students with an IEP and/or 504 plan in high school may qualify for support services at Sinclair, including placement test and classroom accommodations. However, because the laws governing higher education are different than those governing high school, there is no guarantee that a student will qualify for these services. To determine your eligibility, please contact Disability Services for more information.
  • The Sinclair CCP FAQ's is very helpful in answering many of your questions. You may also email questions at any time to ccplus@sinclair.edu. Please allow 24-48 business hours for a response
  • If your test scores do not meet the placement requirements for the course(s) in which you would like to enroll, you are eligible to retest ONE time per calendar year as a high school student. Retest Information here.
  • Non-Public or Home-schooled students who intend to register for classes using the Sinclair Tuition Waiver to receive the negotiated rate for CCP MUST submit their funding letter from the Ohio Department of Education to the Sinclair CCP Office to be eligible.
