PTA Program Mission, Goals, and Outcomes

Mission:

To provide high quality, innovative education to students seeking the opportunity to practice as a physical therapist assistant under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist.

Goals/Program Objectives:

  1. Student/Graduate Goal: Students/graduates will demonstrate professionalism.
    • Program Objective: Students will participate in interprofessional education.
    • Program Objective: Students/graduates will act in accordance with the Professional Behaviors and the Values-Based Behaviors for the Physical Therapist Assistant.
  2. Student/Graduate Goal: Students/graduates will engage in effective communication.
    • Program Objective: Students/graduates will demonstrate effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication and interpersonal interactions.
  3. Student/Graduate Goal: Students/graduates will provide high quality patient care under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist.
    • Program Objective: Students/graduates will provide quality, safe patient care.
    • Program Objective: Students/graduates will demonstrate sound critical thinking and problem solving.
    • Program Objective: Students/graduates will participate in evidence-based decision-making/practice.
  4. Faculty Goal: Faculty will engage in assessment for the purpose of continuous improvement.
    • Program Objective: Faculty will engage in professional development activities to enhance teaching/learning and program improvement.
    • Program Objective: Faculty will utilize evidence to respond to the evolving nature of education, research, and practice.
