This heading
is where you'll find a summary of the course-related tasks on which
your performance is evaluated. Examples include:
Quizzes:
Quizzes
can be administered using the WebCT
tool, email, or other methods. Your instructor will let you know
his/her preferred method.
Exams:
Exams are usually given on campus at the Testing Center or off
campus by a proctor.
Some courses' exams
may be completed at home; these usually take the form of essay
questions and may be "open book."
Homework:
The types and amount of homework required by your course can vary,
but some reading (textbook or e-lesson,
or both) and writing is typically assigned. All told, your total
work for an online class (including both evaluated and unevaluated
activities) will be at least as much as if you were enrolled in
a traditional class: three hours of work for every credit hour.
There's
also a
Gradebook, where
you'll find your current scores and grades.
An online distance
learning course can include activities under any combination of
one or more of these headings; it may feature a variety of tasks,
such as completing group or independent projects or study questions
to submit for evaluation.
In
this mini-course, the only assessments you'll be expected to complete
are the Pre- and Post-Assessments. These activities are meant
for your own benefit and to gather information to help improve Sinclair's
Online Distance Learning courses: no grade or score will be assigned,
but they should be useful for understanding more about online distance
learning.
