Restrictions for Registering for Distance Learning Courses

Students whose Sinclair cumulative GPA is less than a 2.00 are restricted from registering for distance learning courses.

NOTE: To discuss other course options, students should see their divisional academic counselor.

Beginning Date Access to Distance Learning Courses

All distance learning courses with a –T section designation are considered to have met as of 8am on the first day of the term.
Students are expected to have their course materials already purchased and
be ready to start their actual course work on the first day of the term in order to be academically successful in the course(s). All course work must be completed and submitted to the respective faculty member within the term it is being taken.

Test Proctor Policy

Students living beyond a 60-mile radius of the Sinclair Community College campus (Dayton, Ohio) may need to obtain a proctor to administer their tests locally.  It is the student’s responsibility to secure a proctor for test administration during the enrolled term.

Information about proctoring and the actual proctor form may be downloaded from the “Testing Information” section on the distance web site.  Directions on where and whom to send it to can be found on this form.  These forms need to be submitted to the Distance Learning Office(Room 14-223) no later than the first day of the intended term of attendance.

Sinclair Community College’s Attendance Policy

Students are expected to be present at all class sessions.  It is the student’s responsibility to read and understand the class attendance policy or the web/video course participation policy that will be defined in the syllabus for each course.  It is the faculty member’s responsibility to define attendance or participation requirements and to monitor and record the students’ fulfillment of these requirements.   It is a program’s prerogative to have specific policies across multiple sections due to the unique requirements of that program.  Attendance for traditional classes or participation for web/video classes may affect final grades, financial aid eligibility, and VA benefits.
