How do I get started?

 

A:  If you have not taken a class at Sinclair Community College in the past year, you will need to fill out an application.  You can access the application on-line at www.sinclair.edu, in-person at 444 W. Third St., Dayton, OH  45402, or have it mailed to you.  Once your application has been processed, you can register and pay for classes on-line, in-person, or over the phone at 937-512-5454, or 1-866-512-5454.

 

 

 

 

Can I miss a portion of, or be absent from, my class?

 

A:  The state requires attendance in class a certain number of hours per class in order for you to receive your certificate, therefore, attendance is taken and you cannot successfully complete the course if you are not there at least 90% of the scheduled times.

 

 

 

If I miss more than 90% of the class, what happens?

 

A:  You will have to withdraw from the class, reregister and pay for another section of the class.

 

 

 

 

How do I apply for the state exam?

 

A:  When you successfully complete and pass your pre-licensing education, you must have a real estate sponsor (broker) and submit an application to the Ohio Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing BEFORE you can schedule an examination.  Application forms can be obtained from your real estate broker, or from the Ohio Division of Real Estate’s website:  www.com.state.oh.us.

 

Please do not submit your application until you have completed all of the required courses.  Originals, or photocopies, of your four certificates of completion must be included.  Applications including appropriate application fee ($49 for salespersons) payable to the Ohio Division of Real Estate must be submitted to:

The Division will review the application and determine eligibility to test.  The Division will then notify Experior which will send eligible candidates and Examination Eligibility Letter and a Candidate Information Bulletin.  Candidates must pass the National and State Specific portions of the examination within one year of the date of their initial eligibility letter from Experior.

 

After receiving an Examination Eligibility Letter from Experior, candidates schedule their examinations by calling Experior at 800-894-9965 between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Payment must be made when calling to schedule your appointment, using a credit card or authorizing payment by personal check.  Exam fees of $59.00 are non-refundable.  Similarly, for each retake, a candidate must submit a retake application to the division, with appropriate fees, before they can schedule their re-examination.

 

 

 

 

Where do I go t take the state exam?

 

A:  Real Estate Examinations are administered only at PSI centers located conveniently throughout the State of Ohio and surrounding areas.  Testing center hours of operation vary depending on candidate demand, but generally they are open three to six days a week for testing.  When calling to schedule an examination, candidates may select the location, date, and time most convenient to them.  Please visit www.psiexams.com for the most up-to-date list of test centers.

 

 

 

 

How much does it cost to take the state exam?

 

A:  Registration fee:  $48.00 for Salespersons  Exam fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.  Similarly, for each retake, a candidate must submit a retake application to the division, with appropriate fees, before they can schedule their re-examination.

 

 

 

 

How much money will I make in the real estate industry?

 

A:  As a real estate sales agent, you are an independent contractor.  You are basically running your own business.  As in any business, you will get out of it what you put into it!  Talking to brokers and agents will give you a real idea of what is possible.

 

 

 

 

For how long are the course certificates good?

 

A:  The certificates you earn in the courses are good for 10 years.
