Paralegal Program LexisNexis ID Policy
All students enrolled in the Paralegal Program are required to purchase a LexisNexis ID. The ID is good for the school year, September through August.
The Paralegal Program believes it is important for students to become competent in computerized legal research. Names of all paralegal students need to be given to Lexis so that IDs can be assigned immediately. Once the list of student names is turned into Lexis, refunds may not be made, even if students drop paralegal classes.
Paralegal Principles Students
New students enrolled in Paralegal Principles, fall and winter quarters, will automatically be charged a program fee for the Lexis ID on their fee bill.
Fall Quarter
Students enrolled in PAR 220, Legal Ethics, will be charged a program fee on their fee bill. PAR 220 students do not go to the book store to pay for a Lexis ID.
All other returning paralegal students who register for PAR classes in fall quarter must go to the bookstore and pay for their Lexis ID no later than the first day of class. Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by the first day of class may be administratively withdrawn from paralegal classes by the department chair.
Winter Quarter
Students who did not enroll in paralegal courses in the fall, and enroll in paralegal courses winter quarter, must purchase a Lexis ID no later than the first day of class. Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by the first day of class may be administratively withdrawn from paralegal classes by the department chair.
Spring Quarter
Students who did not enroll in paralegal courses in the fall, or winter, and enroll in paralegal courses spring quarter, must purchase a Lexis ID no later than the first day of class. Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by the first day of class may be administratively withdrawn from paralegal classes by the department chair.
Summer Quarter
No Lexis IDs may be purchased for summer quarter. Paralegal students who do not have a Lexis ID by summer quarter may not enroll in the summer PAR 113, Legal Research and Writing III (Lexis) course. Any paralegal student who has not taken a paralegal class in the fall, winter, or spring and plans to take PAR 113, needs to plan ahead and purchase a Lexis ID in spring quarter.
