LexisNexis Policy

Paralegal Program LexisNexis ID Policy

The Paralegal Program believes it is important for students to become competent in computerized legal research. All students enrolled in the paralegal program are required to purchase a Lexis ID.  The ID is good for the school year, September through August.  Purchasing the Lexis ID is the responsibility of each Paralegal student.

Paralegal Principles Students

New students enrolled in Paralegal Principles, fall and spring semesters, will automatically be charged for the Lexis ID on their fee bill.  If the Lexis ID fee is not charged on the fee bill, it is the student's responsibility to purchase an ID at the Sinclair Bookstore, after obtaining a permission slip from the Chair's office (Room 5-141).

Fall Semester

Students enrolled in PAR 2304, Paralegal Ethics, will be billed for the LexisNexis fee on their fee bill.  PAR 2304 students do not go to the book store to pay for a Lexis ID.

All other returning paralegal students who register for PAR classes fall semester must go to the Chair's office (Room 5-141) to obtain a Lexis ID purchase permission slip to buy the Lexis ID at the bookstore no later than the first day of class.  Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by September 15 will have a hold put on their account and will not be able to enroll in additional classes.  Purchasing the ID will remove the account hold and renew the student's ability to enroll in other classes.

Spring Semester

Students who did not enroll in paralegal courses in the fall, and enroll in paralegal courses spring semester, must purchase a Lexis ID no later than the first day of spring semester.  Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by January 17 will have a hold put on their account and will not be able to enroll in additional classes.  Purchasing the ID will remove the account hold and renew the student's ability to enroll in other classes.

Summer Term

Paralegal students who do not enroll in paralegal courses in the fall or spring, but enroll in paralegal courses in the summer term, must purchase a Lexis ID no later than the first day of summer term classes.  Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by May 30 will have a hold put on their account and will not be able to enroll in additional classes.  Purchasing the ID will remove the account and renew the student's ability to enroll in other classes.
