PARALEGAL DEPARTMENT

LexisNexis Policy

Paralegal Program LexisNexis ID Policy

The Paralegal Program believes it is important for students to become competent in computerized legal research. All students enrolled in the paralegal program are required to purchase a Lexis ID.  The ID is good for the school year, October through September.  Purchasing the Lexis ID is the responsibility of each Paralegal student.

Paralegal Principles Students

New students enrolled in Paralegal Principles, fall and winter quarters, will automatically be charged a program for the Lexis ID on their fee bill.  If the Lexis ID fee is not charged on the fee bill, it is the student's responsibility to purchase an ID at the Sinclair Bookstore.

Fall Quarter

Students enrolled in PAR 220, Legal Ethics, will be charged a LexisNexis fee on their fee bill.  PAR 220 students do not go to the book store to pay for a Lexis ID.

All other returning paralegal students who register for PAR classes fall quarter must go to the bookstore and buy their Lexis ID no later than the first day of class.  Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by September 15 may receive an Incomplete grade for all PAR classes in which they are enrolled and will not be able to enroll in additional PAR classes.  Purchasing the ID will remove the Incomplete and renew the student's ability to enroll in other PAR classes.  An Incomplete grade will become an "F," unless the fee is paid.

Winter Quarter

Students who did not enroll in paralegal courses in the fall and enroll in paralegal courses winter quarter, must purchase a Lexis ID no later than the first day of class.  Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by January 17 may receive an Incomplete grade for all PAR classes in which they are enrolled and will not be able to enroll in additional PAR classes.  Purchasing the ID will remove the Incomplete and renew the student's ability to enroll in other PAR classes.  An Incomplete grade will become an "F," unless the fee is paid.

Spring Quarter

Students who did not enroll in paralegal courses in the fall, or winter, and enroll in paralegal courses spring quarter, must purchase a Lexis ID no later than the first day of class.  Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by April 9 may receive an Incomplete grade for all PAR classes in which they are enrolled and will not be able to enroll in additional PAR classes.  Purchasing the ID will remove the Incomplete grade and renew the student's ability to enroll in other PAR classes.  An Incomplete grade will become an "F," unless the fee is paid.

Summer Quarter

Paralegal students who do not enroll in paralegal courses in the fall, winter, or spring, but enroll in paralegal courses in the summer quarter, must purchase a Lexis ID no later than the first day of classes.  Students who fail to pay for a Lexis ID by June 22 may receive an Incomplete grade for all PAR classes in which they are enrolled and will not be able to enroll in additional PAR classes.  Purchasing the ID will remove the Incomplete and renew the student's ability to enroll in other PAR classes.  An Incomplete grade wil become an "F," unless the fee is paid.
