Effective Winter Quarter 2010:

 

BIS 251, Medical Terminology I, and BIS 252, Medical Terminology II, will only be offered during the day for winter quarter 2010.
 

Effective Fall Quarter 2009:
 
Effective Fall, 2009, BIS 136, Medical Terminology I; BIS 137, Medical Terminology II; and BIS 138, Medical Terminology III, will be replaced with HIM 121 and 122. You will be receiving a letter to let you know what you need to do based on what you have completed. Below is a table that gives an example of which course to take based on which you have successfully completed. BIS 220, Computer Applications for the Medical Office:  Effective Fall, 2009, BIS 116 will be a prerequisite for BIS 220. For those students in the Medical Office Option degree program in a catalog year that did not required you to take BIS 116, you will need to see a counselor to have the BIS 116 prerequisite waived if you are trying to register for BIS 220 for Winter, 2010 quarter.

The Business Information Systems Department has reactivated BIS 116, Medical Office Procedures and effective Fall, 2009, it is required as part of the Medical Office Option degree and certificate. If you are completing the medical degree and/or certificate programs for a catalog year in which it is not required, you should strongly consider completing this course prior to graduation. The course covers basic principles of the office support staff, bookkeeping duties, and responsibilities pertinent to the medical office and health care agencies.
