Information Processing & Technical Services is responsible for supervising and coordinating network operations systems and desktop computer support both on and off campus by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:

Plans and develops policies and procedures for carrying out computer operations, data management, desktop PC services and administrative service functions;

Advises upper management on product development issues arising from product problems identified through technical support calls;

Assists in final testing of new or revised software products;

Creates long-term strategies for growth and maintenance of department resources, makes budgetary recommendations to upper management, and monitors expenditures against approved budgets;

Analyzes support activities and makes recommendations for changes in procedures and resources;
-
Confers with staff and managers to determine requirements for new or modified software and hardware;
-
Establishes and monitors procedures for follow-up on all requests for assistance to ensure optimum customer satisfaction;

Meets with users to determine quality of service and makes necessary adjustments to accommodate their needs;
-
Coordinates installation of hardware and software, and implementation of procedure changes;
-
Consults with software and hardware vendors to solve problems impeding computer processing;
-
Meets with other Information Technology managers to determine impact of proposed changes in hardware or software on computer operations and service to users;

Establishes and maintains proper controls to ensure the physical security of all IT equipment;

Establishes required help desk processes to distribute requests for assistance to administrative or academic service technicians, or to appropriate technical personnel, if necessary;

Coordinates and maintains the Business Continuity Plan (Disaster/Recovery Plan) reviewing all changes in hardware, software, and network components and adjusting the plan accordingly;

Tests the Business Continuity Plan annually to ensure the readiness of the plan so it is implemented in the most effective manner to minimize downtime.
