Account and Password FAQ's
How do I get an Sinclair account?
Student accounts are automatically created based on the information that is entered into the system by Registration when a student completes an application for admission.
What can I access with my Sinclair account?
You can access the portal by going to my.sinclair.edu. This will give you access to your email, Tartan Card online, ANGEL the web-based course management system, Web Advisor to manage your account: registration, payment, financial aid and more.
What is my username and password?
All accounts are in the format of “firstname.lastname” unless an identical name ever existed in the system (student or employee). If there is an existing username that matches the new name, a random four digit number will be appended to the end of the user name (example: john.smith5721).
Passwords are initially set to “Pass” followed by the last four digits of the SS# (example: Pass1234). The first time you log on, the password will expire and you will be prompted to choose a new password.

How do I change my password?
Go to http://my.sinclair.edu and and click on the "Forgot Password" Using the "Password Reset Tool" link just below the login prompts

How can I change my password without my Tartan Card ID number?
Contact the IT Help Desk at 937-512-HELP (4357) or at helpdesk@sinclair.edu.
Can I change my password more frequently if needed?
Yes. If you think your password has been compromised you can change your password by following the instructions "How do I change my password?"
Why is the IT Help Desk imposing complex passwords?
Complex passwords help to ensure the integrity and security of your information and is in accordance with industry best practices.
What is a complex password?
A complex password is made up of a combination of numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters, and special characters.
What guidelines should I use to create a complex password?
Passwords Must:
* Be at least eight (8) characters in length
* Contain characters from three (3) of the following four categories:
English uppercase characters (A through Z)
English lowercase characters (a through z)
Numbers (0 through 9)
Non-alphabetic (special) characters (for example, !, $, #, %)
Passwords Must NOT:
* Contain the user's account name
* Be the same as your previous 13 passwords
Why is my account inactive or expired?
If you have not taken classes in more than 2 years, you will be required to submit a new application. After the Registration department processes the new application your account will be regenerated in approximately 1-3 business days.
