NSF has awarded Sinclair more grants than any other community college in the United States.

Sample National Science Foundation Proposals
The following are sample NSF proposal narratives that were developed by Sinclair Community College. Please feel free to download and use them as examples when developing your NSF projects.

NSF ATE Project: National Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing Education (Funded)
This three-year, $1,500,000 project creates a clearinghouse of manufacturing instructional materials and provides professional development/consulting to other colleges.

NSF ATE Project: IT@Sinclair: Improving Student Retention in IT Programs
This three year, $883,329 project develops models in student assessment, curriculum content, and faculty development to increase student retention.

NSF ATE Project: Distributed Hyrbrid Manufacuturing Engineering Technology Curriculum
This two year, $299,947 project develops, tests, and evaluates instructional materials leading to a certificate in Continuous Process Improvement that utilizes a distributed-hybrid delivery model.

NSF Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship Grant (FUNDED)
This four-year, $395,830 project supports scholarships up to $3,125 per student for low-income, academically talented students.

NSF Course, Curriculum, and Laboratory Improvement Grant: Incorporating GC-MS Across the Two-year College Curriculum  (FUNDED)
This $26,000 project obtains CG-MS instrumentation for the Chemistry department to improve laboratory instruction.

NSF ATE Project: Teaching Improved Methods in HVAC Control Systems (FUNDED)
This $155,324 project develops new apparatus for HVAC tuning and control systems.

NSF ATE Project: Connecting Math, Science, and Technology  (FUNDED)
This $401,914 project develops curriculum and provides faculty professional development related to graphing calculators and laboratory apparatus to teach fundamental mathematics and science concepts.

NSF ATE Project: Chemistry Faculty Enhancement (FUNDED)
This three-year $185,000 funded project provides a series of one-week faculty workshops for chemistry faculty in instrumentation.

NSF ATE Project: Information Technology Academy  (FUNDED)
This $850,000 funded project enhances information technology curriculum and provides faculty enhancement opportunities. Note the actual project changed during budget negotiations.

NSF ATE Project: Image and Marketing of Engineering Technology Eudcation (FUNDED)
This $250,000 collaborative partnership among five colleges and universities and the American Society for Engineering Education/Engineering Technology Council markets a positive image of engineering technology in an effort to encourage more students to enter the profession.

NSF ATE Project: Completing the Curriculum  (FUNDED)
This $1,800,000 project completes a modularized curriculum for the Associate in Applied Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology at Sinclair. In addition the project will assist trade schools and two year and four year colleges and universities in moving to the modular curriculum structure.

NSF ATE Project: Faculty Development in Collaborative Design and Rapid Tooling and Manufacturing (FUNDED)
This project is a partnership between Sinclair and Ventura College (Ventura, CA) that will provide comprehensive professional development for engineering and design technology faculty.  NSF is distributing this proposal as a national model.
